Public Outreach Day 1

The 1st HAMLET Public Outreach Activity Day will be organized at Vienna University of Technology from 1-2 April 2009. The event will illustrate the history and future development of human space exploration and address the following topics:

  • Human Space Exploration
  • Hazards from Space Radiation
  • How Do We Measure Space Radiation?
  • The Matroshka Project
  • From Apollo to the ISS
  • To Moon, Mars and Beyond …


In the frame of the opening ceremony, an invited talk by a renowned international expert in the field of radiobiology is intended to introduce the audience to radiation risk assessment and the principles of space radiation protection. The above mentioned topics will be discussed in detail during the second day by members of the European HAMLET consortium. The event will be accompanied by a hands-on exhibition of space hardware.

Access to both the plenary talks and the public exhibition is granted free of charge.
