HPA

hpa150x117The Health Protection Agency (HPA) is a public authority in the UK whose role is to advise the UK government, the public and industry on all matters of public and occupational health. Within the HPA, the Radiation Protection Division (RPD) fulfils the role of the former National Radiological Protection Board, having a remit to give advice, conduct research and provide technical services in the field of protection against both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. Among the areas of work covered by the External Ionizing Radiation Dosimetry (EIRD) Group in the RPD are research and development of personal dosimetry systems, such as the Siemens Electronic Personal Dosemeter. The EIRD Group has also been involved in extensive programs of field characterization, as well as the determination of personal dosemeter response in those fields. It is foreseen that three members of the EIRD Group would participate in the project.

The HAMLET project is funded by the European Commission under the EU’s
Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) and coordinated by the
German Aerospace Center (DLR)
